Trustee
When you become an eligible Employee, you will be registered as a Member of the ECI Pension Fund or the ECI Provident Fund by your Employer.
Both the Member and the Employer contribute towards the ECI Funds at 7.5% as per the published minimum wage rates, by the NBCEI.
The ECI Funds are managed by a Board of Trustees.The Trustees meet regularly to discuss the business of the ECI Funds who are required to act in the interest of the ECI Funds Membership.

Trustee
I matriculated in 2001 and have since obtained my B.com Law and LLB qualifications. I have since been appointed as the Industrial Relations Officer for the Highveld region and in July 2023, I have been appointed as a trustee for the ECI.
My after-work activities are playing cricket, soccer, and road running. I relocated from Durban in 2016 and have been in Johannesburg ever since. My main aim and goal as a trustee is to ensure that I give sound input in order to make the best decisions that will take care of and benefit the members of the fund.
Principal Officer
I have been the Principal Officer of Various industry retirement funds for the last 10 years.
Prior to my permanent employment as the Principal Officer at the ECI Funds, I was the General Secretary for the BIBC for 5 years.
In total I have more than 20 years’ experience in Bargaining Council and Retirement fund environment.
My qualifications include a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) (UNISA) and an honours degree in Accounting (UNISA)
In my role as Principal Officer I assist the Board of Trustees to look after the best interest of our members.
Independent Trustee
I am the Independent Trustee for the ECI Funds.
I have extensive administrative, actuarial and consulting experience and previously served on the ECI Funds (Regions A and B) as a Trustee from 2014 to 2019.
As an Independent Trustee, I will always act in the best interest of the Funds Members.

I am the Group Leader at SAEWA for the Coastal areas.
I have been serving as a Trustee on the ECI Funds Board (Regions A and B) since 2020.
As part of the Board of Trustees, I endeavor to act in the best interest of the Members with the aim of ensuring the sustainable, long-term performance of the Funds.

I have been the HR/ IR Manager of B&W Instrumentation and Electrical (Pty) Ltd since 2009.
Being in the Electrical Industry for more than 12 years I became an Employer Trustee on the ECI Funds Board during 2014. I serve as a Committee Member on several Sub-Committees: Investment, Administration, Claims and Disposition, and Communications (Regions A and B).
As a Trustee, I believe that the Board should take all reasonable steps to ensure that the interests of Members in terms of the Rules of the Funds are protected at all times, keep proper registers, accounts and records of the operations of the Funds and communicate adequate and appropriate information to Members to ensure they retire comfortably.

I am the General Secretary of SAEWA, and the Vice-Chairperson of the NBCEI.
Since 1996 I have served several terms as a Trustee for the ECI Funds. After a hiatus of approximately 8 years, I re-joined the ECI Funds in 2017 as a Trustee, I currently serve as a Board Member, and a Committee Member on several sub-committees: Claims and Dispositions, Administration, Communications and Investment (Regions A and B) .
I have served as a Trustee to the ECI-KZN Pension Fund, as a member to the [interim] Board of Trustees of the ECI-Cape Pension & Provident Funds; and,
I have held trusteeships to both the MEIBC (Metal Engineering Industries) Pension & Provident Funds and the Mines Pension Fund.
As a Trustee, I regard it my sacred duty to always act in the best interest of our Members in general, and, in particular, to provide the best social security benefits and a comfortable retirement to our Members. Â .
Chairperson
I have been the Assistant General Secretary of SAEWA for the past 17 years.
SAEWA appointed me as a Trustee for the first time in 1999 to represent its Members on the Board of Trustees of the Electrical Industry Pension and Provident Funds (Cape).
I am a Trustee on the Board of the ECI Funds, the Chairperson of the ECI Funds Communications Sub-Committee, and I serve as a Committee Member on the following ECI Funds Sub-Committees: Investment, Governance, Claims&Disposition, Administration and EXCO.
It has been a great privilege to represent SAEWA Members, for several years now, at the Electrical Contracting Industry Pension and Provident Funds; the Mines Pension Fund; Sentinel Retirement Fund and the MIBFA Funds.
Trustee
I am the Labour Trustee to the ECI Pension and Provident Funds (Regions A and B).
Over the years I have served as a Trustee for the ECI Pension and Provident Funds; the ECI-KZN Pension Fund and the Metal Industry Pension and Provident Funds (MIBFEA).
At the ECI Funds I have served as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, currently I serve as the Deputy Chairperson of the Board; and Chairperson of the following Sub-Committees: Administration and Claims and Disposition.
I regard Trusteeship as the fundamental principle of trust and integrity; to act in good faith towards the Funds; and, in the best interest of the Sponsor and our Members.
Vice Chairperson
I am the National Director of the Electrical Contractor’s Association, acting Joint General Secretary of the NBCEI, and the Chairperson of the ECI Funds Board of Trustees; the Investment Sub-Committee, and of EXCO (Regions A and B).
I have an LLB Degree (Unisa), BA Honours (Unisa), HED (Unin), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management (Unisa), to name a few.
My primary intention is ensuring the Funds continue to prosper, delivering on its promises made to our Members.
My priority and job is that of a caretaker of the Funds and its assets, always acting in the best interests of our Members.
